Water Use Calculations (for Code Assessments and Building Regulations 17.K)
Eco Energy and Environmental can carry out water calculations for assessing the Whole-house potable water consumption in new dwellings. The calculations are used to assess compliance against the water performance targets in Building Regulations 17.K and the Code for Sustainable Homes as set out below.
Included in these calculations are the savings made in the use of water in the home by the incorporation of grey and rainwater systems. These can result in significant water savings, leading to excellent credit scores in the Code assessment.
The calculation method requires the use of water consumption figures provided from Manufacturers’ product details. Before the assessment can be carried out, figures will need to be collected from manufacturers’ product information to determine the consumption of each terminal fitting, including:
We can obtain these figures on your behalf, if required, provided we are given the make and model of device. We will also offer guidance and suggestions as to the fittings which provide the best results in the calculations.
Large water consuming installations such as swimming pools and jacuzzis where the water is replaced over a greater time interval do not need to be included as part of the water calculations for 17.K or for the Code. The Code does however assess such fittings as part of Issue Wat 2, External Water Use.
