Eco Energy and Environmental can prepare Daylight Calculations compliant with the requirements of the Code for Sustainable Homes. Credits are available for two issues:
Daylight Factor (DF)
The daylight factor is the ratio between the illuminance (from daylight) at a specific point on the working plane within a room, expressed as a percentage of the illuminance received on an outdoor unobstructed horizontal plane. This is based on an assumed overcast sky, approximated by the CIE ‘standard overcast sky’.
Simply put, the average daylight factor is a ratio between the glazed area and the area of the walls, floor and ceiling of a room. To comply with Code requirements, the percentage in the kitchen needs to be at least 2%. Living rooms, dining rooms and studies (including any room designated as a home office), need a minimum of 1.5%
View of the Sky
A minimum of 80% of the working plane (i.e. worktop level) of the kitchen, lounge, dining room and study (including any room designated as a home office), must receive direct light from the sky.
