Sustainability and Energy Statements for Planning
As part of the government drive towards Zero Carbon Homes by 2016, planning approvals for building development are increasingly dependent on developers designing for a reduction in carbon emissions over and above current Building Regulations requirements (usually by 10% to 15% currently), and/or illustrating sustainable design by achieving Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3. And this level of the Code is in the process (in the case of many local authorities) of being increased to 4 or better.
Accordingly most (if not all by this time) planning applications must be accompanied by a Sustainability Statement and/or an Energy Report. We have found that producing a combined statement, in the form of a Code for Sustainable Homes – “Lite” – pre assessment report, based on the Code credit categories of sustainable design and including an expanded Energy section, has proved beneficial in successful planning submissions.
Eco Energy and Environmental has produced many such reports for clients, and we will usually cover the cost of the report in the fee for the SAP/Code assessment if appointed for the whole package of work.
We are also able to produce reports in support of non-residential developments.
